Many instructors are not familiar with the existing theories and science behind how people learn.  There are a variety of theories and frameworks to help instructors understand how learning works, how the brain can process knowledge, and beneficial ways to help students construct knowledge in college courses.  In this section, a variety of theories and frameworks about learning, how to consider learning in course design and implementation, and how student motivation impacts learning will be discussed.
