Even if summer’s only just beginning, it’s already time to start thinking about the Fall semester. Are you planning to organize a program about teaching for your GTAs? If so, we want to help assist your efforts! UCAT is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Bringing It Home grant.
We know that there is more information about teaching specific to each department than we could possibly cover in the campus-wide GTA orientation (held from August 15-17, 2017). The Bringing It Home program is designed to support discipline-specific teaching orientations within your department. Whether you are starting up a new program or would like support for an existing workshop, UCAT can fund your graduate associates who work with your orientation ($200) and contribute some funding (up to $100) for refreshments. Funds for this program can support up to 10 departments!
Proposals for 2017-2018 should emailed to Erin Blankenship-Sefczek, at firstname.lastname@example.org, with “Bringing It Home” in the subject line, no later than July 10, 2017 at 5pm.
Each proposal must include:
- A tentative agenda for the program
- A faculty/staff contact person
- The names of GTAs involved in planning/presenting the event (we can split the $200 between multiple GTAs if you prefer)
- A brief written description of how this program meets the orientation needs of your GTAs
We are happy to answer any questions or help you plan your teaching orientation. Please feel free to call UCAT (614-292-3644) or email Jessica Riviere, UCAT Instructional Consultant, at email@example.com to discuss your plans.
Have fun putting together your programs, and good luck with the application!
