I really enjoy teaching and interacting with others interested and excited about learning. My major teaching accomplishments since coming to OSU have been to make a connection with the students as individuals and establish myself as a caring, yet challenging teacher. My overall goals as a teacher are to:

• Be knowledgeable, scientifically acute and excited about the subjects I teach;
• Challenge my students to engage in critical thought;
• Be a responsive mentor, advisor and role model;
• Treat my students as individuals, each with particular goals, gifts, needs, experiences and ways of learning;
• Provide course participants with an individualized learning experience;
• Instill within my students that the attainment and retention of knowledge and their ability to apply what they have learned to new situations, is perhaps the most important and lasting “grade” they will earn; and
• Encourage students to view learning as a dynamic process that builds upon itself many times over rather than mere memorization of an isolated collection of facts.
