We believe that knowledge and expertise are socially constructed within a specific
context, and that community provides the space for people to share ideas and learn
from one another. We focus on creating and sustaining a
climate that supports teaching; developing a community
of peers at the local, national, and international levels;
and fostering a culture that celebrates the teaching practice.
We have worked to create opportunities for faculty to engage in learning communities through the Ohio State Teaching Enhancement Program (OSTEP). These groups meet regularly for a year, working together to support each other's efforts on a teaching related project. Over the past several years, we have supported a variety of learning communities on different topics or for different cohorts. Our current communities are the Graduate Teaching Fellows, the Mid–Career and Senior Faculty Community Program, and the Sustainability community. More>>
UCAT also sponsors book groups, both campuswide and within academic units, as a form of multi–level community. For more information, call UCAT at 614–292–3644.
