The Ohio State University is very pleased to announce several initiatives to provide preparation and ongoing support.
OSTEP | Seed Grants | University Departmental Awards for Exemplary GTA Programs | GTA Coordinator Grants | Ohio Learning Network CORC
We have worked to create opportunities for faculty to engage in learning communities through the Ohio State Teaching Enhancement Program (OSTEP). These groups meet regularly for a year, working together to support each others' efforts on a teaching related project. Over the past several years, we have supported a variety of learning communities on different topics or for different cohorts. Our current communities are the Graduate Teaching Fellows and the Mid–Career and Senior Faculty Community.
Five seed grants of $10,000 each are available to develop or enhance GTA programs within departments, schools, colleges, or consortia of units. Proposals for the 2012-13 academic year are due by May 7, 2012. More Seed Grant and Request for Proposals information is provided here>>.
The University Departmental Awards For Exemplary GTA Programs will be presented to two departments that demonstrate exemplary achievement in providing outstanding prior preparation and significant ongoing support to their GTAs for their teaching roles. Nominations are due May 7, 2012. More information about the Exemplary Award, including the nomination process, is provided here>>.
Funds are also available to reimburse some professional development expenses for GTA coordinators. Read here>> for more information about the grant and its application procedures.
